Veterans returning from the Middle East combat theater are likely to consult primary care physicians about general health problems that are symptomatic of--or may conceal--posttraumatic stress disorder. Physicians are encouraged to become better prepared to recognize the symptoms of posttraumatic stress disorder in their patients and quickly initiate proper treatment or appropriate referral.
Although measurements of mobility are important in osteopathic medical research, most assessments have been subjective and qualitative. Use of a cloth tape measure at two thoracic levels is shown to be a reliable method of measuring change in thoracic mobility.
