About the Cover:
Beginning on page 409, Michael B. Clearfield, DO, reports that high levels of high-sensitivity C-reactive protein (hs-CRP) are a strong predictor of future cardiovascular events in individuals both with and without overt cardiovascular disease. Recent trials suggest that evaluation of hs-CRP levels may assist in stratifying risk groups in patients presenting with coronary artery disease, and that this diagnostic method—when combined with lipid screening—improves global risk prediction in patients who would otherwise not be identified for primary prevention by lipid assessment alone.
